Porcelain veneers & fillings

Porcelain veneers & fillings at the eSmile clinic

Smile at those you know as you know they are good people, and those you don’t as they are also good people, even if you don’t know them.

Our treatments are guided by a philosophy emphasising naturalness

Porcelain veneers, also known as dental laminates, are always handcrafted. As we value the highest level of aesthetics, we also require it from our partners. We want to provide our customers with the handiwork of world-class professionals. Therefore, we have partnered with three dental laboratories with excellence in aesthetic dental care: Aki Linden in Helsinki, Finland and Edson Da Silva in Portugal.

“Instead of trying to find an easy way, we are looking for the best end results”, says dentist Hannu Vesanen, our expert in aesthetics.

A porcelain veneer is a very fine layer attached to the surface of a smoothed tooth. Our practices use only E-max and IPS Empress veneers. These veneers are made of glass-ceramic, a highly aesthetic, translucent material that creates a natural and beautiful finish. The veneers feel as natural as your own teeth and their colour will remain unchanged.

Porcelain veneers are used to fix teeth that are severely worn down, which might have been caused by a number of reasons. Most typically, veneers are used on chipped or discoloured teeth with spotty enamel and a large number of plastic fillings. Porcelain veneers can also be used to fix misalignment of teeth, including overlaps, crookedness and gaps between teeth as well as to replace missing teeth.

Sometimes the Prepless technique can be used for veneers, which is a completely drill-free approach. Lumineers is an American brand for a veneer systems which includes applying a thin layer of porcelain over the teeth without any drilling or local anaesthetics required. Our practice uses this approach for aesthetic dental care. This form of treatment is becoming more commonplace due to its ease, but is not suitable for clients with major dental misalignment.

Progress of treatment

The treatment begins with an examination and aesthetic consultation. At the first appointment, the wishes and problems experienced by the customer are discussed and initial moulds of the teeth are made. The reproductions can be made using traditional techniques or a digital scanner. In the latter case, the dental laboratory will have the models before the customer has even left the appointment. The smile area is also photographed at the first appointment.

During the next visit, the customer is presented with a visual draft of the prepared treatment plan, which allows you to examine the possible final result. It is common to make slight changes to the plans according to the customer’s wishes at this point. Subsequently, the customer’s teeth are smoothed and a reproduction is made. Finally, temporary crowns, which are copies of the designed final product, are produced. This allows the customer to already get familiar with his or her new smile!

The porcelain veneers are attached to the teeth surface using aesthetic plastic cement.

The final result is controlled and photographed around one week after the work has been completed.
